Your cita previa confirmation, line by line

The booking is made, and a page in Spanish appears: what each line says, what to check before closing it, and what it means for your morning at number 57.

Written on

You have chosen the province, the procedure and a slot, and a page in Spanish appears on your screen. That page is your justificante de cita, the proof of your booking. It is short, but every line has a purpose. Read it the way a translator reads a text: one line at a time, and nothing skipped.

First, the reference. The número de justificante is the code of your booking. Write it down or save the page. You need it to cancel, and it is the quickest way to find your booking again.

Next, the trámite: the procedure, in capital letters. On the Delegación del Gobierno’s page for Toledo, the number on its own is called POLICIA-ASIGNACIÓN DE NIE, and the fingerprints for a card POLICIA-TOMA DE HUELLAS (EXPEDICIÓN DE TARJETA). Compare the name with your form: an EX-15 goes with the NIE, an EX-17 with the fingerprints, an EX-18 with the EU certificate. If they do not match, cancel and book again now, not on the morning itself.

Then the office and its address. In the province of Toledo, policia.es lists two police offices for foreigners: the Oficina de Extranjeros de Toledo at Ronda de Buenavista 57, and the Comisaría de Talavera de la Reina at Calle Carlos Barral 2. People from Seseña or Illescas sometimes hope for a nearer office, but there is none on the list. Read the town before you plan the journey.

The date and the time come next: fecha and hora. Arrive a little early, with your papers in order. The Delegación’s guide to procedures says only the applicant may enter the Oficina de Extranjería, with a cita previa in their own name, so plan to go in alone.

Last, your own details: the name and the document number you typed. The officer compares them with your passport. If a letter or a digit is wrong, cancel and book again with the right details.

Then print the page, or keep it on your phone, and put it on top of your folder: the EX form, your passport and a copy, the proof for your case, the receipt of the State fee on the 790-012. A careful reading takes a few minutes at home, and it can save you a second booking.
